Chains. Capital (when it was good) radio.
Anybody remember this gem of a show? Used to be on every Monday at 9pm presented by Nicky Horne. People would send in a list of 24 to 28 tracks and each one has to have a direct link to the song that preceeded it. So you could start with say a Dylan track then follow it with almost anything as so many have covered his stuff. Sounds easy but you had to finish with the same song you started with and fuck me it was hard. No google back then (early 80's) so all you had was your iwn knowledge. If you could complete one if these 'chains' then you certainly knew your stuff.

It was miles better then than it is now.
Was really diverse every thing from rock to trade jazz.
Plus the genius of Kenny Everett.

greg edwards ,at his best was brilliant. remember the first time he played Change/ by Change ;-) like it was yesterday -proper jaw dropper..

Tom robinson has a really good show on Radio 6 sunday evenings- he has different themes and does something siumilar to this chains story - the best show is where he gets people to contribute nominations for " the better then the original" ive learnt so much - like "hurt" Johnny Cash wasnt the original _ Nine Inch Nails was . WHo knew huh?!
